There is no bad weather in winter, there are only bad clothes. How to enjoy all winter outings? Wearing appropriate clothing, which can make the difference between an enjoyable outing from the one that is not.

We dress according to the multilayer system that is adapted to the intensity of the activity. The first layer, underwear, covers arms and legs and is made of synthetic fiber or polyester, materials which allow moisture to escape. Especially, not cotton. Underwear merino is more expensive, but perfect for lower intensity activities such as ice fishing.

The second layer of insulation used is usually be a coat and pants fleece, which are more or less thick. Payment can be expensive, but it is quite possible to find clothes fleece for $40.

The third layer will protect from the harmful elements. We are not obliged to have a Gore-Tex, which is a nylon jacket that can also do the trick. For winter enthusiasts, there are coats for breathing practices, but are more expensive.

Particular attention should be paid to the extremities: feet, hands and head. You can put on socks made of wool or synthetic fiber. They cost nearly $20. It is better to buy a first pair and try to see if it suits you. To avoid friction with the shoe, better wear a thin sub-sock. To top it off, we do not neglect to buy a good pair of walking boots. The latter is recommended for less intense activity: playing outside, fishing or sledding, but it is too heavy for hiking and snowhoeing.

For hand protection, we need to wear gloves or mittens: gloves are put on for mittens to make it thicker. Finally, there is a muffler and a hat to protect head and neck. Remember it is best to dress as properly as possible.

A secret to protect the skin of the face

Spread Dermatone lip balm on the nose, cheeks, earlobes and lips. The balm protects the skin against frostbite. This avoids wearing a balaclava, which is uncomfortable. The balm that comes in stick or ointment costs $2.90 and lasts for one season. In addition, it protects against the sun. A "two for one" product, which would be difficult to pass.

Tips for fun in the snow

Finally, a few tips aimed at children. But why adults do not try those? Do not be afraid of ridicule, you see, you'll like this.

  • Drop into the snow on back and draw an angel.
  • Make a path by walking in the snow leading to a hiding place. The other children must follow the trail as Tom Thumb.
  • Crawling in the snow.
  • Roll in the snow.
  • Lie on your back in the snow and watch the clouds.
